Galesburg, IL

Carl Sandburg College’s Radiologic Technology Club last week donated $500 of club funds to FISH Food Pantry of Galesburg.

The money was originally raised by the club to pay for its trip to the annual Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists conference and for second-year students to attend a boards exam review symposium. When both of those events were canceled because of COVID-19, club members opted to donate the money back to the community. The Radiologic Technology Club plans to donate additional funds to other organizations in the near future.

“We understand how these organizations depend on help from others to meet their goals,” said Jackie Whipple, radiologic technology program coordinator. “With our misfortune of canceled events, we hope our ability to donate will make a small difference with these organizations in meeting some of their needs.”

Those presenting the donation were Whipple, Radiologic Technology Club President and 2020 graduate Emily Hutson and 2020 graduate Tarissa Chatten.

FISH is an emergency food pantry that has helped feed the hungry of Knox County since 1970 and assists 17,000-18,000 individuals each year.
